My hands are numb haha
Another half tube of 142.

After one hour of sanding.

After two hours of sanding.

Ran out of 60 grit so I'm done for the day. BTW, Dara is coming home in 7 days.

Had a spare manifold laying around so why not. What better way to celebrate the resurrection of baby jesus than to smooth a VR intake.
So durty.

I originally wanted to paint this thing and then looked at the lil pegs that were of no use anymore so I thought, "why not shave em off." But then I looked at all the lines and what not and thought, "Lets shave them too right?"

30 minutes...

and one cut off wheel later.

Scuffed the surface up quite a bit.

And broke out the plastic filler

Trust me, it will look better soon. (Hopefully.)

Got everything lined up, aimed, shaved, trimmed blah blah blah so now I was ready to tackle the clusterfuck hack job from the PO. I taped up the gap from the inside and mixed up some good 'ole JB Weld.

I gave up on trying to apply the gunk by way of wooden dowel so I fished around the junk drawer and found one of my old heroin syringes (old roomie was an army medic) and got crafty.

Thankfully this epoxy is so liquid-y because it has all evened out in the crack in the past 30 minutes. 4 more hours to full cure.

So I took everything apart and tried to do several things here:
1) trim the housing so the actual lens butted up against the chrome trim piece
2) move the lighting housing back an inch or so so it wouldn't rub against the headlight lens like before
3) actually aim the fucking thing
The hardest thing was not trimming anymore than was needed because the guy who attempted the retrofit before me took a weedwacker to the whole thing and trimmed off WAY too much =( So I have that to deal with when the time comes...

Got it aimed right (I think).

Note that the glass actually touches the trim piece instead of having a nasty 1/4" gap like before.

So the more I kept looking at the lights the more I wanted to get cracking and fix them. They are pretty much worthless BUT I was telling myself that I wanted to make a set of retrofits anyways and I'm basically gonna have to do that soooo, on with the photos...
How come every single project car we get, I always end up putting the headlights in the fucking oven?

I gotta say though, these were the easiest lights to open up to date thank god. Behold the shitty-ass paint job! Gander at the sweet fitting hack clusterfuck cut job to fit the projector housing!

Bah. I'm grumpy now haha

Rolled on over to the shop after work where I caught Rico working his new Caddy project.

Yeah, 15 seconds after this photo his hair was on fire. (Ok, not really but it would have been funny.)

Then I checked out Dara's new paint which looked like ass. The painter said it had to be wetsanded but I am really doubting if I should paint her satin now. I know it was still wet but I wasn't happy at all.

Then I got home to see that my carpet and lights got in. I was really excited to open everything up...

Until I realized I got totally fucked in my retrofit purchase.

Honestly... a blind kid having a seizure could have made them cleaner. Pretty much EVERYTHING has to be done over so whatever. I still think I got an "ok" deal here but it's really sort of disheartening to end the day with.
