Got art and crafty on saturday
I have always loved the front end of the Porsche Speedster and for this project, being how it has a vintage racing feel to it, I wanted to try and replicate the speedster headlight grilles they often used while racing at the track.
Obviously, no one makes one for the lowly MK3 VW platform so I had to make my own. After a trip to the hobby store to pick up some airplane aileron stock, I went home to find out that they were just too flimsy and when they bent, they looked like ass. Off to the parts store I went to pick up some door edge protection trim.
Then it was time for construction... first I made a stencil.

Then I cut out the wire mesh I picked up from Depot

I cut the door trim to length and hot glued the edges together and then sanded smooth at the joints.

Not too shabby.

Nothing beats spraying at 1 in the morning on the golf course!

Viola. Not too bad for under 10 bucks.
