SO after a week of being dry docked

Wednesday, October 31, 2007 by JKREW

I drove Roxy to work today. She is slow. And loud. And really fucking slow.

I think I hate her.

But then I had lunch with Jason and talked to him about rebuilding her engine and going turbo.

I have 10% more hope for her but 10% is still 10%.

It sure is nice to relax

It's like night and day compared to a month ago vs. this past week in terms of stress.

How my week went:
Monday: talk of mass layoffs at work. Not really worried.
Tuesday: Get laid off. Worry level flys to defcon 1. Get 4 months severence. Worry level moved down to defcon 3.

So that night we went out to get some pho. Fuck an AOL fo realz.

I go home in a bad mood and even ice cream can't cure teh grumpness™.

But kate loved on me and I was good again.

Wednesday: Get new job at same pay which means double paychecks for four months. What worry level?

Thursday through now: Drink, sleep and work on car. Nice.
So yeah, fun times. I painted some rain rails.

And made some ecode brackets from a door kick plate:

Trimmed out the radiator:

Swank:

Gonna dump her a few more inches and take some proper pics. Then it's time to bring the busted engine to rayveedub to get rebuilt, turbo'd and slapped back in.

2008 goals: 130 club at the flats.

p.s. Went to bubbas baby shower today... awww, lookit the lil guy. So gentle looking!

And kate had her first A&W root beer float.

The end.

man, it sure is friday isn't it?

JKREW: it's not the speed. I mean I can do 140ish easy but to hit 130 in one mile is a bit tough
drift-king-cort: in one mile?
thats all you get?
JKREW: haha yeah
drift-king-cort: in salt flats?
fuck
you should get like 4
thats crap
theres NOTHING out there
one mile huh?
hmmm
you have a 12v vr right?
with some mods I'm sure
so I bet you trap about low 90's in the 1/4
JKREW: I'd have to go stg2 at least. I want to do it in the MK3
drift-king-cort: you have a mkIII?
JKREW: *slaps forehead
drift-king-cort: I thought you had the black mkIV
and the mkII
grey with red steelies
did you have a preacher/religious figure at h2o?
JKREW: yes, elliott. the editor of pvw
Jesus man, how fucked up WERE YOU that day?

hee hee, this makes it totally worth it all

Living the dream...

Monday, October 1, 2007 by JKREW

Man, what a weekend. F that, what a month. As you all know, took the last week off from work (thank goodness my boss is badass enough to let me skip out for so long haha *thanks leah!*) to finish the car which turned into a mad dash the few days before the show. Painted Roxy about 3 days before the departure date and then it was all piecing her back together craziness. Sleeping 4 hours a night, getting up at 5am to wrench etc etc...

The day before we left, we got a good amount done but it started to rain, I lost day light etc etc so we had to wake up asscrack of dawn early to finish her up. Slapped the wheels on, finished up the bumper and interior and re-wired the stereo so I could have something decent to listen to on the way there.

The drive down was perfect. Not one flaw with her albiet her cluster took a poop half way through so I had no idea how fast I was going the entire time. We got into town, checked into our little slice of ocean city heaven *gags* and just started the relaxing process for the whole weekend.

It was a little weird this time around as we were sort of split up from our local crew of friends as they were across the bay and we were in the thick of the party, literally 20 feet overlooking the main hangout at the show as (bad)luck would have it.

Nothing crazy really happened at all which I guess was good and bad. Remembering back to past years, I can recall a lot more drinking and stupid antics and this year it was completely devoid of all of them. Not sure if I miss it or not but at least I didn't walk away with too many tickets this year (just one for no seat belt mom. Only 25 bucks!)

We met up with the editor of PVW for whom was an awesome, awesome guy and the crew he rolled with with were so much fun to meet and talk shop with all day on Sunday (including a few MK4 drivers I had never physically met yet who turned out to be the bees knees too).

So yeah, nothing crazy, Roxy drove like a champ, was extremely well received from everyone and kate and I just had a great, relaxing trip which was exactly what I needed =)

On with the pics:

Roxy at the night GTG getting' some love

Then we went putt putting

Then we ran into this nice group of Boston irishmen...

...who showed us what a gargoyle was

I lol'ed

Sunday was showday

Roxy and Burkee's piece looked the part

Oh yeah, then we got married just for shits and giggles.

The internet-ordained minister (Elliott from PVW) reading the vows

Trying not to puke he was so nervous haha

We got married on stage, in front of 2000 people, my best man was covered in tattoos, the minister and I shared a Red Stripe on stage, yadda yadda yadda

Our rings ceremony haha

The kiss =)

"OMG, our parents are going to kill us!"

(thanks for the pics bubba!)

On with the show. I want this shirt. Badly.

Then we got tired so we drove home.

And we just HAD to stop at wendys didn't we?

That's when Roxy's alarm disabler turned on for some reason. Locking the doors shut and when you have custom handles with no keyholes, yer kinda fucked.

Buuut, after an hour of finagling, we got on the road again to come home to a very excited pooch Carson. More pics soon! Man it's good to eat REAL food and sleep in a REAL bed again. I've had enough fast food for a year haha
